WORLD FOOD DAY – TAKING ACTION FOR HEALTHIER FOOD FOR ALL!
World Food Day (WFD) is a global event set up by the FAO (United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization), and is intended to raise awareness in promoting healthier food for all: a great cause that is actively supported by Bonduelle, with a theme of #agirpourlavenir (acting for the future).
A challenge in step with our mission
As it takes up the mission of “inspiring the transition toward a plant-based diet to contribute to people’s well-being and planet health”, Bonduelle is embodying its vocation of promoting better food for all via action on agricultural and food practices. In this respect, our mission is in response to the efforts led by the FAO to work towards zero hunger, healthy lives and more responsible food and production methods.
“Food choices and habits determine our own health, andour planet’s too. By taking an active part in change, ona personal and/or professional level, you are influencingthe way in which agrifood systems operate andtransform, providing access to sufficient quantities ofhealthy and affordable food for ALL.”
Marjorie Gallée, Coordinator Louis Bonduelle Foundation and Civic Engagement (Group)
Initiatives conducted around theworld with support from the LouisBonduelle Foundation
In 2021, 40% of the world’s population still does not have access tohealthy food. This is why Bonduelle is making commitments all over theworld in the form of concrete initiatives such as volunteering at the Restosdu Coeur Etudiants food charity in Villeneuve-d’Ascq, donations of foodand cash by BELL and BEAM, or volunteering at food banks, as BALL hasdone. In this way, 182 hours of volunteering have been provided throughout thegroup, and 375 tonnes of foodstuffs donated. In addition, the Louis Bonduelle Foundation works constantly to ensurethat everyone has daily access to healthy food. One such basic measureinvolves public education work, which is why it has developed a usefulcustom infographic listing five citizen-driven initiatives in support of a moresustainable food system.Look out very soon, too, for the next edition of #LetsVeggUp, the call forprojects program that advocates plant-based food for all.
“According to statistics, one third of the food productsproduced worldwide ends up in landfill. Russia is noexception. At the same time, around 18 million peoplelive below the poverty line. The pandemic and thedifficult economic situation have simply made suchmatters worse. To mark World Food Day, BEAM has joined forces withour partner, the Fond Prodovolstvia Rus’ food bank, withthe aim of minimizing food waste, promoting responsibleproduction and consumption, and improving theecological situation. We are engaged in a two-pronged initiative, consisting of in-kind donations of our products in order to distribute them to groups of people in need, and an educational and information initiative: A webinar for our employees with the President of the Food Bank with the aim of explaining the activities of theFood Bank and the general issues around food loss.”
